LAPAN's Rockets RX 420 Specification

LAPAN's Rockets RX 420 Specification
Department of Defense and the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space / Lembaga Penerbangan dan Antariksa Nasional (LAPAN) to continue research and development of their missiles and rockets for science and technology purposes.

One proof of progress have been made by these two institutions is to launch rocket RX 420. An initial progress is good for science and technology, especially relating to the placement of satellites in orbit and the exploration of outer space.

Here are the details of rocket RX 420:

Research & Development Team: Ministry of Defense and LAPAN

Type of missiles: ground to ground or air to ground

Coverage / Range: 389 km

Total length: 9.5 meters

Weight: 500 kg

Warhead: 70-122 millimeter caliber

Making Ideas: Year 2005

Budget: Rp 2.5 billion

Fuel: Hydroxy terminated poly butadiene and ammonium perchlorate.

Type: Ballistic

Configuration: Four-level (three-RX 420, the RX-320, and a pair of booster)

In addition, LAPAN so far have also been able to make a rockets with various diameters and distances. Among other, missile with diameters of 70 mm (usually called the RX-70) to reach the distance of 7.9 km.

There are also 80 mm rocket (RX-80) that is able to reach 8 km, 100 mm rocket (RX-100) with a range of 5 km, 150 mm (RX-150) with a range of 15.5 km, and 250 mm (RX - 250) to reach the 27.9 km.

During this years, there are two types of rockets that is succesfully launched, ie, RX-150 and RX-250.

RX-150, have a length of 314 cm, diameter 150 mm, weight 95.5 kg (without payload), the type of propelan HTPB, configuration propelan star and launch elevation is 80 degrees.

And for specification of RX-250, namely the length of 472.5 cm, diameter 250 mm, weight 351.4 kg (without payload), the type of propelan HTPB, configuration propelan KG and launch elevation is 80 degrees.

National Institute of Aeronautics and Space / Lembaga Penerbangan dan Antariksa Nasional (LAPAN) is the Indonesian government space agency. It was firstly established in November 27, 1964 by the former Indonesian president Suharto after one year of informal space agency organization.

Like the United States of America's NASA, it is also responsible for long-term civilian and military aerospace research. For over two decades, LAPAN has launched many satellites and most are telecommunication satellites, including the Palapa project satellites.
