On next 6, 7 and 8 March 2009 Indonesian Jazz Music Lovers will be satisfied with the held of Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival for the fifth time. The event will be held for three days at Jakarta Convention Center and will be attended by dozens of performers, musicians and singers in 188 performances.
"With the range of time that is not quite longer, we will make 19 stage, with 59 performance in the first day. Number of showtimes will be added at the end of the weekend, which is, in saturday as much as 65 shows, and in Sunday 64 show," said Java Jazz Festival Program Coordinator, Eki Puradireja in press conferences at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon.
This year, Java Festival Production plans to feature, among few, Swing Out Sister, Brian McKnight, Roy Ayers, Ledisi, Simon Philips, New York Voices, Matt Bianco, Isao Suzuki, Dianne Reeves, Mike Stern, Oleta Adams, Peabo Bryson, Regina Carter, Jason Mraz, Laura Fygi, Ivan Lins, Dave Valentin, Parov Stelar, Everette Harp, Simon Phillips, Kamal Musallam (Dubai), Michael Paulo, Jeff Lorber, and Stefano Bollani.
Musicians and performers from our own country which will appear like Dwiki Dharmawan Global Harmony Orchestra, Idang Rasjidi, Jamie Aditya, Phinisi, Glenn Fredly, Oele Pattiselanno, Yance Manusama, Tohpati Orchestra Ensemble, Afgan, Humania, RAN, Maliq `n D`Essentials, and Cindy Bernadette.
Eki said, to remember the musicians and performers who have contributed for the development of music, both from the world and from our own country, this time in Java Jazz, a number of Tribute will be held, such as "Tribute to Luther Vandross", "Tribute to Chrisye by Glenn Fredly", and "Amboina Project" which devoted to salute to the musicians who came from Ambon that ever committed to make a masterpiece of work.
No less interesting, in this Java Jazz 2009, Slank band will make the collaboration with one of the Jazz band, whose name is still concealed.
