44 West Papua's lawmakers stated as suspects in province budget corruption

All members of the West Papua parliament named as suspects in the alleged corruption case of province budget year 2010-2011, amounting to Rp22 billion. Of the total funds amounting to Rp22 billion, Rp15 billion is the budget of West Papua province in 2010 while Rp 7 billion is a budget in 2011.

The results of examination of witnesses has shown that the funds were drawn from regional companies to be distributed to all 44 members of parliament of West Papua. Head of Manokwari District Attorney, Paryono justified the status to 44 members of parliament are suspects.

Now the High Court of Papua, has been taking care of inspection permit from the Minister of Home Affairs in Jakarta, related to the execution of their inspection process.

A number of legislators who asked for confirmation said they were not aware of their status as a suspect because until now they have not been examined. Although handled by the High Court of Papua in Jayapura, file transfer and execution of the trial will be conducted in Manokwari.
