VP Boediono to attend Nuclear Security Summit ( NSS ) in Washington DC

Vice President Boediono will attend the High Level Conference on Nuclear Security in Washington DC, USA, 12-13 April 2010. "The presence of VP Boediono in this high-level conference is very important to convey Indonesia's outlook about nuclear problem," said VP spokesman, Yopie Hidayat, in the Vice Presidential Palace, Jakarta.

According to Yopie, during a visit to Washington, the vice president will be accompanied by some ministers, such as Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Darwin, and a number of high officials who had connections with nuclear problems.

In those visits, the Vice President will attend a series of meetings and banquets with state and government leaders, as well as communicate our views on the importance of nuclear for the peace of mankind.

The summit is very important to be attended by Indonesia in an effort to prevent the possibility of nuclear use by parties who are not responsible with the aim of creating a world of chaos. "Nuclear could pose a threat not only between countries, but also across the continent," Yopie said.

Indonesia has always been actively calling other countries on the use of nuclear for mankind interests and always participated in each conference to discuss nuclear problems in order not to fall into the irresponsible parties.

Of the 45 countries that were invited, there was at least 42 countries willing to send high level delegations to the conference. Large countries which states will be present including Japan, Russia, China, Germany and the United States as host. Yopie added, in the conference will be there a communique of Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) which was signed by the participants.
