During Voting Process, Quick Count Result Is Prohibited

Quick Count Result Presidential ElectionIndonesian Election Commission / Komisi Pemilihan Umum (KPU) strictly prohibits local television stations to broadcast quick count result and the exit poll during the vote is still in progress. Because, broadcasting of quick count results made by different survey institutions assessed can psychologically affect on voters's concentration.

According to Putu, KPU find there are three television stations broadcasting exit poll conducted by LP3ES, ie, Metro TV, TV One, and RCTI. He added, KPU respect freedom of the press, but we don't want freedom of the press to harm the ongoing democratic process. "I'v been monitoring via television and directly call the editorial staff leaders of Metro TV, TV One, and RCTI in order to stop it," he said.

In fact, there is unwritten agreement between the KPU and survey institutions states that during the poll is still running there are no allowed broadcast of a public perception survey.

In addition, according to Constitutional Court decisions (MK), broadcasting exit poll and quick count only allowed if the process of vote has been completed. "The quick count results can only shown after all voting is completed or at 13.00 WIB," he said.
